Let it snow!

This year I must admit that I was quite homesick for my dear Canadian parent's and the wonders of a Canadian Christmas. In fact, it got so bad that I was letting myself get into quite the doldrums. Finally, the Lord got my attention and helped me to see that I had a choice to make. I could either continue on in this gloom or I could think of others and make Christmas a great time wherever the Lord placed me.
God is such a gentle Shepherd, He so gently leads and corrects. After His gentle reminder, Christmas became a very wonderful time this year. We had a lot of good family times, cozy times of food and fellowship, and many good laugh at our lil' elfs:)
To make things even better, the Lord saw that it would be so very nice to have a white Christmas....as if He had not already blessed me beyond measure.
Here are a few pics of the fun in the snow:)

Lots of snow.....Yeah! And it is still snowing:)

...realizing that we need to go snow-clothing shopping...
I guess that is what happens when you get that first snow:)

Christmas... just around the corner

It is so hard to believe that another year has already flown by. We had our first snow the other day, our tree has been picked out, set up, and now is adding it's lovely radiance to our living room I love this special time of year with all the snow, lights, family, friends, warm drinks, cozy fireplace times, yummy goodies, great traditions, and most of all a time to reflect on the birth of the Christ Child!
We had our first snow the other day, our tree has been picked out, set up, and now is adding it's lovely radiance to our living room. The cheerful strains of Christmas music have also been floating through the house. So I decided that it was time for some little cheery Christmas pics:)

Six Months Already

Six Months already, how time does fly by. The girls are just growing so fas.
Khloe tries to be so big, and is coming off some really cute sayings. We just recently got a piano in the house. I have been enjoying getting  back into playing. Well, the other day Khloe was playing the piano very precisely, and every little bit she would say "oops," play a little more "oops," etc. I realized that she was copying me, Oops:)! She loves to play imaginary games all the time. I get a lot of chuckles throughout the day.
Kallista is a jolly little soul. She usually has a ready smile for everyone. She was so amazingly easy as a tiny baby, but I must say she isn't quite so easy lately. Trying to get those little teeth in has brought the worst out of her. She has developed cat-napping much to my dismay:( But overall, she is still a really good baby.
I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family. God is definitely good to us.
Rather off the subject, but important none the less, Kent is scheduled to get a spleenectomy this coming Tuesday. They are hoping that this will correct his blood platelet levels. So we would appreciate it if you all would keep him in your prayers.

Some thoughts from a little speech that I had to give...

Reflecting the Colors of His Creation

Introduction:
As daughter’s of our Heavenly Father, it is so important that we reflect His heart and let His love shine through us. This means that in a world that pushes us to be fake and to lift up ourselves, we will have to be different. God has called us to be vessels of light whose sole purpose is to reflect His nature and attributes through our lives.  I Timothy 2:9-10 “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety, not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array. But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good woks.” I Peter 3:3 “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of god of great price.”
It seems as if God is setting a standard of conduct and dress that is a notch above what our society and media is dictating to us. As ladies, we are pushed to be fake and shallow with an emphasis on extravagant measures to appear beautiful. Let us dare to be beautiful as God intended.  My husband has reminded me at different times that the beauty of actresses and such is so empty and fake. He says that these women seem to lose that real beauty that our Creator intended us to have, that of spirit, and a wholesome appearance.
So the first step to being beautiful is on the inside. How often do you see a pretty face dressed to the nines and primped to a “t”, but the attitude and demeanor are so unpleasant.  Often this type of individual is so self-absorbed, snobbish, and cliquish. They are trying so hard to be beautiful, but have missed the point, that of a gentle Christlike spirit, full of kindness. Always thinking of how they can show Christ’s love to everyone they meet, instead of it being all about them, it is about Him.
On the other hand, does this mean that we need to be ugly and sloppy, dressing in outlandish things and failing to take proper hygienic care of ourselves? Absolutely not! I believe that part of being a vessel through which our Creator can shine and be proud of is to take proper care of our vessel.
I do not profess to be an expert in this area. I have so much room to improve in this being a vessel that is so adorned and groomed so as to draw the most attention to the Spirit that dwells within me. However, here are a few small tips that I have come across and that I try to incorporate into daily life.

2.       Styles of dress
a.       Determine  your Perfect Set of Colors
b.      Discover what Colors Compliment each other
c.       Yes, it might be in style, but does that style compliment your shape
d.      Put your wardrobe through a Christ-like mirror

Don’t believe the lie that you have to be sexy to be beautiful. Sexy is cheap, when on display for all to see, classy is a valuable comodety.
Dare to be beautiful, the way God meant and not the way the world dictates.

e.      Don’t feel like you have to dress in the styles of twenty-years ago, and yet make styles work for you rather than being a slave to styles

3.       Your Shape
a.       Bigger on Top Overall
                                                               i.      Don’t accentuate the narrowness of your lower half by wearing slim style skirts, go for a flared or A-line skirt
ii.      Create a stream-lined look up top
iii.      Add volume to your lower half
iv.      Try darker up top and lighter tones below
b.      Bigger on the Bottom Overall
                                                               i.      Don’t wear tops that are too long and cover your seat. This only shortens your legs
ii.      Look for tops with structure that give you a waistline, and sit above the hips
iii.      Go for not quite so much volume in your skirt
                                                           iv.      Look for angled seams
                                                             v.      Don’t squeeze into your skirts. Their needs to be enough room at your hips; but from the widest part of your hips down should be a gentle A-line or structured A-line
vi.      Use darker colors and drapy fabrics in subtle prints to deemphasize the hip and derriere
c.       A little extra in the Middle Overall
                                                               i.      Don’t accentuate your thinner legs with straight skirts
ii.      Look for tops with structure and skirts with a bit of volume to help proportion the midsection
iii.      A one or two button fitted jacket that nips in at the waist without being tight gives you a waist
iv.      Your tops should fall just below your natural waist-line
                                                             v.      Deemphasize the shoulder
                                                           vi.      Empire waists are good
d.      Curvy Overall
                                                               i.      Don’t wear items that accent your hips and give you love handles
ii.      Look for items that follow your natural curves without clinging to them
iii.      Belts can help define the waist
iv.      Place belt just above natural waist
                                                             v.      Trumpet flared skirts are nice
vi.      Allow your bust to look trim and tailored, but not shrink-wrapped and clingy
e.      Not Curvy Overall;
                                                               i.      You will need to pay a little more attention to a tailored look
ii.      Don’t allow yourself to look like you are wearing a sack
iii.      The baggy, saggy look isn’t classy
iv.      Pleating and ruffles add volume to you top
                                                             v.      You can wear flares and such at your hips
vi.      You can wear horizontal stripes
vii.      Draped A0line adds volume to lower half
f.        Extra Curvy Overall
                                                               i.      Don’t go for too much ruffle and frill
ii.      Look for clothes with clean lines and flattering seaming. Look for stiffer fabrics that have structure
iii.      Think simple; don’t go for volume
iv.      Keep your designs flowing in more vertical patterns or waves
                                                             v.      Don’t go tight; it only accentuates extras

A few random ideas...you can like 'em or leave 'em...however, let us partner with one another to allow the Holy Spirit to be close to our hearts as well as our mouths. May we pattern our lives after His gentle leading. May we always remember that the actions and image that we live out speak and mean more than our words could ever convey.

Catching Up:)

Wow, I have been so busy lately, it seems that I just have not been able to squeeze in time to keep up with my posting. So here we go with a whole series of posts:) Not very professional, but it works:)
So we went a family vacation, I have been asked to be a part of a small group here at the school, and I am trying my hand at making little girl bows and selling them on E-bay and such like (if you need some little girl bows just give me a holler:), Oh, and yes, I have also started taking care of a little elderly lady who has early stages of alstiemers. Bout makes you feel like you are loosing your mind as well at times:( But I really do enjoy her, she is so cute. I have also picked up a few cleaning jobs. Of course Kent is always swamped with his duties as PR Director, and a few odd jobs here and there. We still travel quite a bit, and then there is making sure that we give quality time to each of our two little dollies:) So needless to say we stay quite busy, and it doesn't really surprise me that I just have not had many minutes to spare at the moment:) However, I decided today that I would try to catch up a little and let my friends take a peak at the girls and such:)

It is so fun, Khloe's hair is finally getting long enough to French Braid...
I don't think she is so pumped thought:(

So grown up!

Daddy was just a little unsure if these pictures were necessary, because he was in a hurry.
But I just had to have some of my little dollies in pink:)

Devotional

Here at Penn View, our Dean of Students  and Academic Dean have recently started having the students divide into small groups for one chapel each month. I was asked to head one of these groups. Speaking to groups of any kind has a tendancy to make me rather nervous. And seeing as I am also a very busy mom I am ashamed to say, but I tried to get out of this privilege. I thought that my husband would do a much better job, and that he should be the one to lead this group.
However, I found out that this was not going to be an option seeing as Mr. Davis had already divided up the student body into gender specific groups.....SO I was "stuck":)
With a flurry of preperation and some frantic prayers, off I went to my first gathering.
Well, the Lord really was with us and He really encouraged my heart as I tried to minister to the girls in my group. I feel as if I need to thank the Lord for once again stretching me and helping me to expand my horizons and discover new privileges in Him.
Though the following devotional is specifically talking about seeking for a sanctified heart, I think that it can also be very encouraging and challenging to the sanctified. For it reminds us to never quit going forward, and to never take the gift off of the altar. Sanctification is definitely just the catalyst to the sanctified life. It is a definite start to a beautiful journey.
Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled."
If in our souls we find a deep hunger for holiness- if our hearts cry, "Lord Jesus, I long to be perfectly whole,: we are already on the road to the deeper life of God in the soul. But that desire must be deep and moving- true hungering and thirsting after righteousness. Only those who seek with all the heart find the fullness of God.
This must be so because entire consecration involves life-changing commitments. Into our consecration we must put everything that is nearest and everyone who is dearest to us. If we are to belong wholly to God, he must always have first place in our lives. He does not always take from us the things that we consecrate to Him; He does not always sever the ties of friendship that we place in His hands. He does not always take or sever but He always asks, "May I, if I see it is best?" And before we are sanctified wholly we must honestly and without mental reservation answer yes.
This is why our desire must be deep and moving. This is why we must want the Holy Spirit more than anything else in life. If our desire is faint, we are likely to come up against some obstacle and cannot go further. But if our soul hunger is deep and strong, it carries us past the hindrance.
I would this day make the prayer of Charles Wesley the prayer of my own heart;

Stretch my faith's capacity
Wider, and yet wider still;
Then with all that is in Thee
My soul forever fill!

-Wesley's Hymns

Oregon Coast

We recently were privileged to go on a vacation out to the Oregon Coast with some of our family. Since my Dad and Mom live so very far away, we feel that it is very important for the girls to get to see them as often as possible. We would have really liked to have been able to travel up to Canada, but ticket prices to fly up there are extremely ridiculous and to drive just takes too long. So we made a compromise. We were able to find a steal of a deal on tickets out to the coast. Thus the rendezvous in Oregon.
We spent many hours just enjoying the peaceful scenes of the ocean. We went on long walks, hiked trails, and played lots of board games, etc. We had some really awesome spirit filled times together as well. But that is enough detail about what we got to and didn't get to do, I hate to sound like I am flaunting our vacation in the face of those who had to just enjoy the scenery around home this year:) So I will just say that we felt very blessed and spoiled to have the privilege of sharing this time with my mom and dad as well as Kent's mom and dad and youngest sister, Susie.

Four Months:)...etc.

Where does time go? Kallista is now four months old. She is such a little dolly. Her and Khloe are so devoted to each other. They both light up at sight of the other. I hope they are always best friends.
I decided it was time that I should take some updated pics of these little dollies:) So we had a fun time out in our back yard...and sometimes a little interesting too:)
